Starting with the work of Srinivasa Ramanujan, where his questions opened the door of the active area of Hecke theory and the fact that the related developments in the theory of modular forms have a rich impact in several branches of mathematics and sciences and having in mind that the next ICM is to be organized in India, we are organizing a “Satellite Conference on the Theory of Modular Forms” at Mahabalipuram (near Chennai) from August 1 to 9, 2010.
The aim of the conference is to teach young researchers at graduate or post doc level (about 20 from India and 10 from abroad) the basic theory of modular forms starting from the classical theory to the current developments. A detailed description of the topics to be covered in the conference is given in the annexure. We also plan to have some special lectures on the recent developments by well known mathematicians in their respective field of research.
Thus the proposed programme shall provide a platform for about 20 young Indian researchers along with 10 from abroad an opportunity to learn, discuss and interact with nearly 20 experts who are currently working in the related fields. |
